I am writing about my experience with Jim McCarthy and his Masonry Crew. I began teaching Masonry at a Vo Tech school in 2016. Not being from the area I reached out to many local contractors to gain support for my program and its students. Jim was among the first to respond. His enthusiasm for the trade was evident as he took time out of his schedule to visit the classroom and talk to my students. He also joined my Occupational Advisory Committee and continues to help the program by supporting the purchases of materials and tools that will help build a better class. Over the past few years, Jim has given my students opportunities to work on local job sites. I had the pleasure of joining his crew this past summer for a few months. It was great to see his crew’s professionalism and the high quality of work his employees were putting out.
